A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Combining their deep science-based understanding of the climate emergency with a principled approach to transforming our built environment, Smith is a committed and passionate advocate for building a future economy where people, society, and ecology can flourish.Â
Smith’s career includes leadership roles in architecture and engineering firms Buro Happold, Webb Yates Engineers, and Studio Weave, as well as authorship of several high-impact initiatives and reports, including to COP26 in Glasgow. Smith has also held a wide range of industry positions including as Board Member for the Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy and as a nationally elected Councillor at RIBA. A prolific thought leader, Smith has contributed regularly to national and trade press including the Guardian, Financial Times, Dezeen, and The Architect’s Journal
